There is nothing more satisfying to me as the weather heats up then a refreshing sour beer. Something about the high acidity and the brewing style is so thirst quenching. I love trying new sours and I had the privilege of trying this sour about a month ago.
Duchesse De Bourgogne is a "Flanders Red Ale" from Belgium. According to Beer Advocate a Flanders Red Ale is "commonly referred to as the "red" beers of West Flanders. Belgian Red Beers are typically light-bodied brews with reddish-brown colors. They are infamous for their distinct sharp, fruity, sour and tart flavors which are created by special yeast strains. Very complex beers, they are produced under the age old tradition of long-term cask aging in oak, and the blending of young and old beers."
We love our sour ales here at Vintage Paris so this ale is now available. My review is below.
Aroma: bright lime, floral, boozy
Palate: Apple cider vinegar, malts, honey , complex, tart
Finish: quick but lingering acidity
Overall: Fantastic. Love it. 6.5/7
This is a fantastic Riesling from Germany. The 2014 Von Winnings Riesling is juicy, clean, and fresh and is a great value for the pocketbook. If you are interested in a not-so-dry but still complex wine. This one is for you.
Here's my review:
Aroma: fresh cut green apples, some ash and hints of minerality.
Palate: refreshing lemon with balanced minerality, medium body, young fruit, just enough sweetness
Finish: clean, bright, and refreshing
Overall: refreshing and clean. Great entry into quality wine.
It's fall in case you haven't noticed the pumpkins and cool breeze. This is our favorite time of year at Vintage Paris. We get to enjoy more hot coffee and tea. New seasonal beers and pumpkin flavored things. We have our annual Pumpkin Carving Contest and costume contest. The cool weather means more time by the fire and sipping on cider...
This month's review is Journeyman Distillery's O.C.G. (Old Country Goodness) Apple Cider Liqueur. You may have heard of Journeyman Distillery's Whiskey. If you haven't had their rye whiskey yet, you need to as soon as possible. This is cider is a little different. It includes Journeyman's organic white whiskey, organic apple cider, organic apple juice, and Cinnamon. Here's my review:
Aroma: smells like a fresh slice of hot apple pie with a rich caramel sauce and little scoop of vanilla ice cream
Palate: superb balance, deep cinnamon and bright apple combined with a dark brown sugar sweetness
Finish: long and satisfying, minimal burn
Overall: deceivingly smooth and balanced, dangerously good, perfect for fall
Enjoy hot or chilled. 1 liter bottle $29.70 available at the shop now.
We are big fans of hop-forward, craft, palate-pleasing beer at Vintage Paris. This beer meet all our expectations and more. This beer is a gose... Wait what is a gose, you say? It is a German-style beer that is has characteristic citrus acidity and unique salinity. That may sound a little out of the ordinary but that is exactly what makes this beer a stand-out summer celebrity.
As the summer is wrapping up and the pumpkins and spices begin to overwhelm our senses, you need to try out this beer. It is worth it.
Here's the full review.
Aroma: bright oranges and lemons, mineral-like effervescence (think Perrier), honey sweetness
Palate: lemon sour, complex saltiness, juicy body, mild malts, superb balance
Finish: quick and juicy, just enough salinity to need another drink, crisp
Overall: it's unique, it's fun, it's complex, it's kinda salty... I give it a 6/7. Jess gives it a 7/7 (she loves salty/savory).
We have just added this new Chardonnay to our shelves. It is a wonderful budget chardonnay that does not sacrifice flavor and complexity. It received a Gold Medal in the World Wine Championship Awards and was rated 90 points by Tastings.com.
Here's my review:
The aroma is filled with light mango, olive oil, pears, and a delightful florality. The palate delivered a soft, buttery mouthfeel that had notes of citrus, white pepper, and dried apricot. It was complimented by a long, coasting finish. Overall: Perfect for sitting on the patio and forgetting about the rest of the world.
$11.50 a bottle available now to take home and order by the glass
The fresh, delicate, and refreshing white wine from Portugal... Vinho Verde! The best pairing for this refreshing white is a summer evening on the porch and a warm sunset. With a 10% ABV and subtle effervescence, the refreshing character of this wine will quench any palate.

We have been carrying Kilogram Tea in our shop for almost a year now and they have consistently blown us away with the high-quality and consistency. Among our various options is the Organic Earl Grey.
The following review is assessing the tea without any additives. A popular variation of this tea that we love is with a little milk and lavender sweetener a.k.a. London Fog.
Aroma: Complex malts surrounded by dense earth, moss, and baking spices
Palate: Full flavored, balanced tannin, soft citrus acidity, warm earth, molasses, and subtle baking spices
Overall: Perfect anytime. Versatile brewed straight up or with cream and sugar. Complex palate. 6/7
